Politicians do whatever they can to avoide facing the tough issues. In this case, the problem is that the Palestinians have right and justice and humanity on their side in their quest for a state, but Israel has the larger, more powerful lobby. Perhaps the politicians think that they are doing the Palestinians a favor not to side with Israel outright. This is not the case. Supporting the status quo, even "temporarily" will have the same effect as voting against a Palestinian state. All the world has been criticizing Israeli settlements for years. At this critical juncture will they decide to suddenly support the settlements? Obama did the same thing last year. If the world supports settlements let them say so. What is the point in condemning settlements and then taking action to support them?
