In an interview with the BBC, Emmanuel Nahshon also defends Israel's refusal to grant migrants asylum because it would bring in more asylum seekers.15:21 06.02.16 | 0 comments
The issues surrounding the DREAM Act are not nearly so simple as painted. But Response #1 from Steinberg oversimplifies the issue even more than does Haas. Some businesses and industries could not survive in their present format without illegal immigration. Meat processing(to a certain degree) and chicken processing (especially) would be crippled. And if farmers had to pay minimum wages for legal immigrants for farm work, food prices might have to double. Republicans talk. But they never act or fund enforcement. Their business friends would be outraged. Triple the size of ICE and put the resources into enforcement and industries would fall and the howling would be heard without Fox News or the Murdoch electronic empire. Of course that will never happen, it would bring a measure of competence to government not seen since the first Bush term and the first two Clinton years.
