Israel may have seemed like a "pretty normal place" to secular Jews before. However, it was and is not a pretty normal place for non-Jews. No one here is willing to see that the root of the state - ethnocracy provided by ethnic cleansing - does not lead to good endings. What the religious are doing now, is what you get when you give the OK to a race-premised state. The future is not an exceptional outcome, it's to be expected.
