Actually I am more saddened by your comments from Seattle. The horrors for Jews historically have been in Europe with progroms and then the 20th century obscenity. In the meantime Jews and followers of Islam have had a far more peaceful co-existence. The rise of the modern state of Israel and its dispossession of Palestinians has been the festering sore that leads to many of the comments and changed attitudes that you wish to normalise amongst Arabs. That the UK, France and now the US have made the Middle East their plaything and possession for oil and strategic machinations and that modern Israel has embedded itself as the 'western' democratic beachhead has also caused Arabs to respond in the way you find distasteful. Jews are Semitic peoples who should have been in tune with fellow Semites- Arabs But Israel has chosen to be a Western country in a Semitic swimming pool. Jews as Semites in Israel should discover their Middle Eastern roots. Dialogue might just begin to be possible.

Daniel Barenboim, Israel's voodoo doll
