If Israel did not want to reward terrorists, it would have done nothing when the soldiers were first taken. And I mean do NOTHING (not even if they had been beheaded) - not trade prisoners and not invade. (Well, maybe an investigation as to why the IDF that was supposed to defend Israel had been unable to defend itself would have been in order.) When Israel reacts militarily in such a way that many civilians are killed, it plays the terrorists' game. The terrorists know that Israel has a hair trigger and can play Israel to hilt because of it. Israel needs to do whatever it can so that it does NOT have a hair trigger and thereby take the time to think things thru before it acts - and therefore take actions that are are truly useful for it.
