Why won't an international peace conference potentially solve the problem? Because the Palestinians are the ones who don't want to negotiate. They must realize that Israel is power and that Israel is the dominant force and thus prime decision maker in the conflict. They must understand that they have to compromise more than Israel does. They refuse to accept that, even after a long history of rejecting everything the world (Peel Commission, Partition Plan, etc...) and Israel (Camp David, etc...) has offered them. So why is it suddenly all Israel's fault? Why does the powerful have to get on its knees to the powerless? Shouldn't it be the other way around?

Israel's angry, bitter left must reclaim the language of hope

We leftists whine and complain, we only talk about how bleak and hopeless life is in Israel. We alienate all those Israelis whose support we need to bring political change.
