No fancy analysis by experts is needed to see the problem. The problem is Olmert and Peretz, two guys who were unfit for their jobs from Day One. Until the recent "group of seven" cabinet advisors were assembled, these two buffoons, with no military experience between them, were making all military decisions by themselves, regularly ignoring the IDF and Mossad, as well as the US back-channel, which has agonized over their stubborn failure to bring strong land forces to bear, tying the hands of the IDF. Unhelpful that Halutz lacked land battle management experience and the spine to challenge nonsensical directives he got from Olmert & Peretz. There was no intelligence failure. It was these two. When the smoke clears, they will be out. Their amateurism destroyed the unprecedented trust Bush and Rice placed in Israel, and this will be hard to regain. Certainly not with this leadership and the duplicitous "Vice Premier Peres" (about whom the less is said, the better). Israel MUST fix this!
