"The Jews were expelled from Israel by the Romans and all had fled by 130 AD. " Simply not true. There has been a continuous presence of Jews in the Holy Land since ancient times. Only certain sects of Jews were dispersed. For the first few centuries of Christianity, the "Christians" in the holy land identified themselves as a sect of Judaism. They believed that Jesus was the Jewish Mesiah and they were Jews. Inter religous conflict caused the separation of the Religons. Many Palestinian Jews are descedants of the ancient Jews who were neither Christians nor of the Diaspora.
