"all germany has to do is deliver the eyewitness reports from members of the kaisers army attached to the ottomans from 1915 onwards !!" - Victor the Hard There are many eyewitness reports to the massacre, American too. The Turkish excuse is the "cause". Supposedly, the Armenians helped the Russians when the Turks attacked (and lost). Here, evidence from Russian archives might be helpful. There is no reason to think the attacks on Armenians would have happened without the war. The Armenians were not reviled before the war. It could be that they served as scapegoats for the defeat or the Turks genuinely feared collaboration by them with the enemy. Not all genocides have the same cause of course. I know you didn't state this, but some lesser minds might think so (see Danite #73), so it is worthwhile mentioning it.
