Some posters [mainly American?] seem to believe they can do whatever they want, whenever, wherever and however they please. This doesn't work in the real world. Robinson's Arch is set aside for women to layne from the Sefer Torah, to wear a tallis [ and Tefillin?] and to conduct services with mixed seating etc. The Western Wall may attract tourists but it is legally an Orthodox synagogue under the auspices of the Chief Rabbi's Office, with Robinson's Arch set aside to accommodate Conservative and Reform services. This whole episode was unnecessary. On the other hand a femal officer should have politely reminded the ladies that what they were doing may cause offense. This is not really a matter for the police.
