1) Israel is recognized as a state and has of course the right to defend itself. 2) Palestine skould be recognized as well (the government is a result of democratic elections), and has of course the right to defence and to fight occupation. Both sentences are according to international law. When it comes to earlier agreement, both parties should stick to these. Israel is certainly not - extending settlements on occupied land all the time.
