Erdogan should have realized that any committee appointed by the Secretary-General is phony. It is not only that the Palmer committee showed bias towards Israel, but more crucially that its pronouncement on the legality of the blockade should be given no weight because it is not a court of law. Erdogan has stated from the outset that if the Palmer committee comes out with tilted conclusions he fully plans to take legal action. And this is what Turkey should now if it seriously wants justice and not political posturing. It must raise the matter to the ICJ for an opinion on the legality of the blockade. And once that is settled, there must be a decision concerning the murder of nine innocent peaceful protestors.
