Once he took the oath of office as a judge he had a moral obligation to rule according to the law. If the law prescribes the death penalty for murder, it was his moral duty to give that sentence. By the way, as an Israel supporter (Israel pronounces the death sentence without a trial or judicial hearing) you don't have much high ground to stand on.
