In return for the US dropping the demand for the settlement freeze which was required to get direct talks going, Netanyahu has had to agree to indirect talks covering all core issues, something he has determinedly refused to do up to now. The Palestinians have won this round. Now Netanyahu will try to avoid any painful concessions (other than skipping ice cream on Shabbat), but the international community will not wait indefinitely for serious proposals from Israel. The recent letter from former European leaders is the writing on the wall. Crunch time is coming!
