The public may be loosing its spirit of sacrificing its men and women because they know in their hearts that they will go on sacrificing until the military becomes an army of defence and not one of occupation, something of course that Ilan conveniently overlooks. Perhaps because many Israelis realise that there will be no military solution to the conflict and that Israel cannot possible win this war militarily- that every gain will be offset by two steps backward, that after wrecking immense devastation in Gaza and Lebanon, the resistance will rise again and the cycle will be renewed with no end. Indeed, just as American soldiers are dying in vain in Iraq while the bushcheneyrummy team goes on spewing out the same empty slogans about democracy and freedom, the IDF dying in this conflict are only preparing the path for more deaths which will be to no purpose other than engendering more conflict.
