I'm no fan of Hezbollah or Hamas, but no country that even considers prosecuting someone for carrying a picture of an enemy of that country can be considered even remotely comparable to true western or liberal democracy. In any real democracy, such conduct - while provocative, anti-patriotic and in poor taste - would be reluctantly accepted as an exercise of free speech. In the US, protesters carrying pictures of Osama Bin Laden would probably wind up on an FBI list and subject to surveillance but would never be prosecuted for carrying the picture. Instead their actions would ultimately help law enforcement by identifying themselves as potential threats. Neo-nazis demonstrate with photos of Hitler - arguably the most despicable human being to have ever lived - and the police don't even consider arresting them on that grounds. True Democracy cannot survive without freedom of speech.
