If I had to defend Gideon Levy or if I had to fight for dubious motives - in both situations I would probably prefer the pat on the back to reprimands for a nonregulation haircut. As for the fight for unjust motives: My grand father, MG shooter in the second world war, said yesterday that if in 1944 he had had the knowledge he has today he would have defected. But it surely takes much strength to extract oneself from the own culture and to enter another one before, after many years of being a stranger, you see that your life is improved.
