America itself is the result of a colony, it was created by colonists. Thus the 13 original colonies. Not to mention how it colonized half of what we call america today (California, Nevada, Texas, Arizona, etc) from Mexico. Also, I wonder what the natives Americans would think of your "never had colonies", or how about the former American colonies in the philippines. How about the fact that USA currently OCCUPIES Iraq, Afghanistan, has soldiers based in South Korea, Japan, and Germany. America does occupy, because their power and stability depend on them being able to make sure things don't get out of control around the world. Israel only occupies the territories because of an Arab war of agression in 67, those territories were previously occupied by Egypt and Jordan and lost to Israel in War. Israeli government does not want Gaza and most of the West Bank (although there are settlers who do, and I disagree with that). the Government would leave if there wasn't such a strong likelihood that pulling out would result in further terrorist attacks and rocket launches such as the pullout from gaza and Lebanon resulted in. So in essence you are correct about one thing, America is not comparable to Israel, they have occupied and currently occupy far more territory than Israel ever has, and most of the time justifiably (I think the occupation in Iraq is unjustifiable)
