The New York businessman wasn’t the casino mogul's first choice for president, but Adelson concludes that he 'will be good for Israel.'08:23 06.05.16 | 0 comments
So, this is a government that will continue the tradition of not being accountable to the international community, despite relying on parts of it for trade and the leader of it for subsistence support. The well worn justification is that that community is dominated by Israel antagonists - Arab states and enemies of Israel. Therefore Israel need not answer to them. That the US has asked Israel to respond to the questions raised in Goldstone - which none of the other Talkbackers have bothered to read - is ignored. BUT what about being accountable to the nation - to us. Are we not owed an explanation as to why there are so many questions about how the IDF carried out Cast Lead - in our name? Wouldn't a Commission of Inquiry at least provide Israel with the means of honestly saying we have investigated these claims and here our findings? Is it that we have now reached the point where our government can do as it pleases? If this is the case, what does that say about us??
