Wikileaks people are so brave because they target the USA, which is unlikely to retaliate, let's see Assange recruit leaks from the secret diplomatic reports of the less-liberal regimes of the world. He would be assassinated immediately, or just blown up along with whomever was within ten meters of him at the time. The US should make this clear to the world - although they had a terrible failure of document-security, it is because they are such a tolerant liberal society; also, the damage to them is less than it could be because what they say in secret is not so very different than what they say in public. However there have to be limits to what is covered by freedom of speech etc. Some secrets that are published should carry a heavy penalty. Only someone who truly believes in the need for their publication, who is willing to pay the very heavy price, should reveal them. Just like people who go to war because they so deeply believe in a cause that they are willing to pay the price of losing a limb, or their sight, or their lives. If Assange believes in freedom of information enough to be willing to sit in jail for twenty five years, then he has some claim to a moral right to do this, but if he expects to simply do it and pay no such price, and to benefit from his worldwide notoriety or fame, then it seems rather self-serving.
