I am the last to forgive the Orthodox of all shades for their archaic bigotry against gays, women, other Jewish sects, etc. All the same, if the Haredi were to march through a predominantly gay neighborhood, you can guarantee that they would do so in a modest way. On the contrary, gay pride parades often become very sexually flamboyant and exhibitionist in character. For the religious, it is not just a matter of a gay parade, but a parade that is based exclusively on sexual identity and open sexual expression, whereas they teach sexual modesty. In other words, it is not just a prejudice against gays, but a belief that sexual modesty must be maintained. This would be the case, even if there were a sexually flamboyant "straight pride parade."
