Mr. Aluf Benn outlined the domestic and international issues facing Mr. Netanyahu. He omitted the most important issue that Israel faces today. There is a new Middle East. Gone are the dictators that Israel counted on for support,. And within the next few years the rest will follow if not sooner. The PA itself is on the verge of collapse, all it needs is just one small spark before you see millions of Palestinians asking for Abbas and his PA to leave, take a guess as to who is the most organized entity in the territories. Yes, it is Hamas. Israel will be sitting on a powder keg while facing international isolation. and social networks. This is not your father's Middle East. Israel once again will be surrounded by antagonistic countries, the circle is about to complete. Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Turkey. The circle will complete when Jordan eventually falls. In the final analysis, Netanyahu has no choice but to make genuine peace. I have said on many occasions that Israel's best chance of survival is to make genuine peace with the Palestinians and its neighbors. It has neither the geographic or demographic depth to maintain its occupation forever. Making peace especially at this juncture is a necessity not an option.
