Surely if one wanted to know such a perspective of WW2, then the six volumes of Churchill's "The Second World War" would provide the full, all-encompassing and pervasive context that is referred to in the article. Perhaps Beevor's version is a synopsis of that compendium, but in any event, the truth is that yes, the death camps were part of a large, dramatic and very ugly reality.
