You're probably right. Maybe Israel can't rely on others to fight its battles. Which again reinforces the importance of peace soon, not in 50 years time. If Israel can't build contacts and real friendships with its neighbours, then I can't help feeling it risks becoming another version of the medieval Crusader state in the Holy Land, basically a western import, sustained purely by military superiority and liable to disappear when and if that military superiority does.
