Israel sees an extential threat to herself- the US is cushioned by distance. Israel defines the threat "red line" as having nuclear capability- the US defines it as having built a nuclear weapon. Israel's economy is humming along- the US version is struggling. Israel, (small and sorely pressed) wants the US to attack Iran- the US, on the heels of losing 6300 Americans in Iraq and Afghanistan) wants to avoid another war. The bottom line here is that Israel should do what's best for Israel- the US should do what's best for the US. Obama and Netanyahu will never see eye-to-eye on this issue.
