Netanyahu also had substantial difficulties with former President Bill Clinton who was considered one of the most pro-Israel Presidents ever. The Israeli public is making a huge mistake by buying into Netanyahu's belief that the status quo will not change and that Israel can keep taking more and more land and building more and more settlements on Arab land. There seems to be a popular Israeli fantasy that the Palestinians will either all move to Jordan or agree to accept an occupation that keeps them in a giant prison for the rest of their lives. The settlements ARE an obstacle to peace but not THE obstacle to peace Obama made them. However, Obama's caving in to Netanyahu about the settlements may make Netanyahu cocky and confident but it will do nothing whatsoever to provide a safe and secure future for Israel without any more wars and without having to sacrifice its soldiers. Netanyahu may have won the battle but he has lost the war.
