The primary job of every Israeli leader for decades has been to avoid peace and expand the settlements. This has been done by every government, right, left, and center. America supports Israel's efforts to avoid peace and expand the settlements. In fact, America provides some of the money on a regular basis to use as Israel likes.. There is no congressional oversight on money given to Israel. The world understands these facts but demands a price. The price is that America and Israel stage peace fakery on a regular basis, usually every few years to match the American presidential term. With substantially increased world interest in this process, the usual peace fakery is not enough anymore. Now there are expectations that "core issues" be discussed first on the agenda instead of last. Israel is certainly not interested in discussing core issues, which means that it is best to avoid peace talks altogether, even the fake ones. To make this happen, Bibi has a multi-level defense set up against the possibility of peace talks. It will be many years before there are any kind of peace talks. It doesn't matter anyway, because this problem won't be solved by talks, although it will be solved one day. Until that day comes, Bibi and all the future Israeli leaders will continue to do their job.
