The need to preempt Iran and export gas to Egypt was the reason the government gave to push through its controversial plan for Israel's natural gas. Now, this reason may no longer exist.08:52 31.08.15 | 1 comments
There is no path for the Palestinians except that of negotiations. Whether it takes them a year or twenty to realize that is irrelevant. In the meantime Israel will continue to create its own borders with or without formal Palestinian acquiescence. Not even a formal acceptance of Palestine into the UN changes the picture. It isn't as if the actual borders are going to be determined by this decision. The land is disputed and according to UNSC242 its status will be determined in negotiations. I don't even understand the demographic concern. The Palestinians are 100% of the residents of areas A and in the West Bank and not Israeli citizens. How does it change the situation if their population doubles? Could someone explain to me the panicky worry on the left?
