I came to Israel with Alexander Muss, and then with a Birthright-type program. I volunteered for the army, based on what I learned and seen in Israel, and my passion for the Jewish people and this country. I paid out of my pocket for a ticket to come to Israel and enlist in the IDF, served for 3 years (based on where I ended up), and at the end of my service, "changed status" to be an Israeli citizen. NBN made money on my "Aliyah". They were paid by the State of Israel for my making Aliyah. But I received no help, was not reimbursed for my original flight here, and was never "guided" or assisted in any way. I found their employment staff totally incompetent and not capable of speaking or helping with a resume in Hebrew...They of course hit up their donors, to claim me and hundreds and hundreds of tourists and IDF soldiers who change their status to Olim, had somehow come to Israel thanks to NBN- Not True. Now they claim they are responsible for Zionism, Aliyah, and Jews in N. America wanting to move to Israel. Again, Not True. Its a religious, black-keepah Boca Rotan golf-course buddies club. Herzl would not be proud. Israel is amazing because we support, learn from, daven, eat and fight together - Jews from Iraq, Yemen, France, Russia, India and Canada. It is utter and absolute גזנות (racism - but here directed to one's origins) to separate between Jews based on where they are born. All Jews deserve the same support. Which should come from the Israeli government directly - not through privatized organizations making a profit on the back of Olim. Shame on NBN. Amazing articles. Thanks to Ha'aretz for shining light into NBN's dark corners. Wish my writing was not the truth, but it is, the public should no. Our tax dollars should not go to make Mr. Tony and Mr. Fass rich men.
