Salam Fayad is an economist. But one shouldn't have to be an economist to understand that if you close business on Thursday and Friday and at the same time the world (including US, Europe - and yes, Australia)close on Saturday and Sunday, you put yourself out of business with the world for 4 days out of 7. Now that's bad for economy and for the people living in it. Fayad chose Friday/Saturday rather than Saturday/Sunday because Friday is the Muslim holy day of the week (Arab Christians are a minority). It als happens that the Palestinian Authority depends on business with Israel (which takes only half a Friday and Saturday off); e.g. currency is the same. That's probably too complex for Nattallie. Amazingly, it also appears to be too complex for Danny Rubinstein!
