Canada has not sacrificed its national interests. Canada has no national interests. No state has national interests. When a state takes a step like this, the question is: "Who benefits?" It is reasonable to assume that the Conservative Party of Canada believes that it will strengthen its political position and its chances of future re-election by taking this step. It is even more reasonable to assume that the people who finance the Conservative Party of Canada believe that their interests will be enhanced by this step. But "national interests?" What a childishly naive idea. It is embarrassing to think that anybody could take such a concept seriously in this day and age. Moreover, the long-term agenda of the Conservative Party, as an Anglo-Saxon nationalist and North American nationalist party, has long been the complete dissolution of Canada as a sovereign state and its full political integration into the United States. This is yet another step in that direction.
