First comprehensive study in Hebrew into Islamic State says Sunni group could wield more influence over Israeli Arabs and Palestinians if it takes land closer to Israel’s borders.11:08 28.11.15 | 1 comments
It is obvious that Israel needs to defend itself and that not every civilian casualty can be avoided, even if you try. However, it is also obvious that the rhetoric of Halutz and others smacked of retaliation and collective punishment against an entire people. Why is it so hard to understand that the moment you leave the cause of proportional self-defense you lose your moral justification for war? Why would a means that won't stop Katyushas falling on Haifa but kill civilians be justifiable by any enlightened western standard of international law? Why should the UN apply different standards to Israeli action than to any other country in the world? Isn't blaming the UN like beheading the bystander who told the King he was actually naked... ?
