In the article, Little House in the Desert, by Ronit Vered, I was surprised that there was no mention of the experimental farm created by (then) Hebrew University Prof. Evanari at Avdat, some 40 years ago. It was based on the Nabotean irrigation system of terraces and run-off water. His aim was to prove that the agricultural techniques used thousands of years ago are viable today. Not so much for application to Israel, but for developing countries, with similar arid conditions.
