Muslims used to protect jews in Spain. What I know for a fact that Jews where persecuted by European Christians for centuries and they always had been closer to Muslims rather than Christians (they fought with Muslims in Spain and it was a nightmare to Jews when Muslim where defeated in Spain). Arabs or Muslims allowed Jews to come back to Jerusalem after they where completely expelled by Romans.
