During the end of the 1930's and during the second world war, while countries like the US were turning away Jewish Immigrants at a time when they were being persecuted in Europe, the Palestinians opened their shores and allowed safe haven to the Jews, one of the only safe places in the world, open to them at that time. This provided European Zionists the foothold they needed to launch their attacks against occupying British troops and Palestinians in appreciation for their salvation, prior to their independence. So Murray, my guess is they would do what they have historically done, they would provide shelter and protection.
