As one who was chaticized after the Second Vatican Council, I was not taught the Church's guilt in the millenia and a half of Christian persecution of the Chosen people. I had to learn it on my own. We have taken the first small steps in the right direction, and if I understand my Chaticism correctly, all forms of anti-Semitism are a mortal sin requiring severe penance of a believing Catholic. Thus, these public manifestations of anti-Semitism are mortally sinful, and the Church is guilty of leading believers into mortal sin. As a believeing Catholic myself, I consider this a crisis for my Church as well as an obscene insult for which I, personally, apologise.
