    Mr. John Swanston... The US does not ignore the conflict... nor do we demonize the Palestinians. Fact is, we are the only nation on this planet by which the last 5 US administrations have attempted to broker a Peace agreement. May I remind you, President Clinton... at Camp David, came within literally centimeters of a compliant resolution. Arafat's inflexibility or his lack of foresight derailed the initiative. Here's the bottom line, Israel has a power advantage in this conflict. She believes, [incorrectly... and to her own detriment] that compromise must come from the Palestinians. At the same time... for geopolitical reasons, the US has a strategic and a military relationship with Israel. This makes for a difficult situation regarding Palestine and the Palestinians. Throw in the religious extremists of Hamas and Islamic Jihad. And top that off with Netanyahu's chronic paranoia... and we get a situation that resembles the tragedy and the disaster you see today.
