Historian's analysis is absolutely correct: if the conflict comes down to support for US troops v. Israel's inability to achieve peace with the Palestinians, the US Congress will side quite rightly with our troops. I haven't gone too far in the responses to this article yet, but am sure I will find cries of "antisemitism" if a critic of Israeli policies is a gentile, and cries of "self-hating Jew" if the critic is a Jew. Please, just stop! A solution satisfactory to all concerned can be found, but a good-faith effort must be made. I know, I know there are Israelis and Palestinians who don't want peace no matter what form it takes. Witness the rocket launch from Gaza yesterday! But, that is no reason to punish the Israeli people or the Palestinian people with perpetual war.
