I dont exactly know all the facts However Israel isn't like most civilized countries. Any minister who is supposedly responsible for an issue cant necessarily implement his decision. There are many other bodies that are involved. The finance ministry for one and many others. It is clear there is too much bureaurocracy in Israel and one cant only blame Yishai. This problem existed for many many years not just under Yishai This problem of understaffed fire department was most probably never reported in the media either. It is clear many people hate Yishai because he is religious as well or for his positions on immigrants and because he is connected to Rabbi Joseph. True in retrospect maybe he should have pushed harder. However it is also the fault of regular Israelis and the media they are so concerned about sending away illegal immigrants and yeshiva stipends that they forget to focus on whats more important like fire department a good police force trains tunnels and efficiency in general. There is no efficient train between Jerusalem and Tel aviv for 60 years? Thing that should take a year to build take 10 years. The Israeli society gets angry makes rash decisions blames others but doesn't do some self examination. The major problem is the attitude of corruption and inefficiency and protectzia mentality of Israelis as a group. Nothing gets done and when it gets done it is too late and done in the wrong way. I hope you guys do some self examination although it is difficult for arrogant people to do that
