Look it up. The 1948 Jewish population was more than 100,000, and it was about 80,000 at the time of the 1979 revolution. At that point, the Jews started seriously running for the exits. These days, it's not easy for a Jew to leave. Requesting a passport puts you under surveillance, and the authorities won't let a family leave the country together, so they're in effect holding your family hostage. Being Jewish in Iran is like being a Negro in the old American South -- it's just peachy as long as you never forget that your place is at the bottom of the pile.
