The purpose of the blockade was to collectively punish Gazans. If it was only to stop arms "smuggling", of offensive arms, why did the list of banned items include "light bulbs, candles, matches, books, musical instruments, crayons, clothing, shoes, mattresses, sheets, blankets, pasta, tea, coffee, chocolate, nuts, shampoo and conditioner"? Why are building materials still banned? Do NOT compare the cruel Israeli blockade with U.S. restrictions on Cuba. When was the last time US commandos swept down from the sky with guns blazing, shooting at civilians on a ship in international waters on its way to Cuba? The U.S. blockade of Cuba was 50 years ago, lasted only 6 days and only prevented offensive arns from being shipped to Cuba.
