Appatrently, Mr. Shapiro, the majority of Israelis among the 450,000 who took to the streets on Sat. night do not se the same picture you claim to see. Cleaqrly, you have not spoken with Isaeli Arabs who are not as assured as you are of Israel's "democracy". You mention nothing of the effects the ongoing confiscation of land and continued frenzied building in the occupied territories does to undermine any chance of restarting negotiations. Negotiations for what, Mr. Shapiro? One side with all the pwer is devouring what they claim they are willing to share and you, Mr. Shapiro and the US government facilitate that devouring. Israel has made a mockery of the two state solution as they soldify their gains and show a willingness for no more than semi-autonomy for certain Palestinian urban centres surrounded by Jewish colonies of those who wioll nevber agree to live as equals with Palestinians. Of all that, Mr. Shapiro, not a word. May the Palestinians defy you and win a victory, if only a symbloic one for the moment, in the UN later this month. Your government has don't nothing to bring about a settlement because you will never be anything more than a rubber stamp for the worst most unjust Israeli policies.
