Among Israel-minded voters, Sanders would get the J Street vote, Bloomberg would garner AIPAC’s and Trump would scrounge for leftovers.00:50 12.02.16 | 0 comments
If that was the case, this paper and other media in Israel would not carry so many articles written by Israeli's who make strong criticisms of their Govts (present and past) and of their own society. We have heard of IDF soldiers deeply critical and ashamed of what is done in their name. Such open, widely available criticism is not tolerated by most ME States. This festering conflict needs more calm and reflective debate where both sides can hear and understand the pain and aspirations of the other. Something Mandela and De Klerk did so much to foster. Pity they are not of the blogging generation. If one day there is ever something like a truth and reconcilliation commission for Pal/Isr then it will be a deeply moving and humbling moment. But those who will feel most ashamed are the ones who today fuel the conflict with barely disguised, crude hate and prejudice.
