Unfortunately, as much as I adore FDR, the Americans' role was far from acting on behalf of saving the Jews from Nazi terror. Otherwise they would have bombarded rail tracks leading to the concentration camps. Indeed, not mentioned in this article is the honourable and kind role of King Mohammed V of Morocco. It was him, who saved the more than 200 000 Jews of his country from the Nazi machinery. The Nazis have been in Morocco, which was Vichy France, but upon the questioning for the Jews, he answered: Which Jews, I know only Moroccans. He put himself in danger of life in preventing application of the Nuremberg Laws, as well as the dispossession of the Jewish citizens. Until today, Morrocan Jews, even though not living in Morroco, have the right to return and to regain Moroccan citizenship.
