He inherited from Livni a party that was unelectable and he needed time in government to make a name for himself show Kadima was worth giving another chance and he wanted to stay in the coalition but members of his party were pushing him to quit the coalition because he had not reached an agreement with Bibi on the haredi draft. Now he has gone MK's are once again are beginning to think Kadima cannot win an election and now they have pulled out the coalition they are not even going to get a chance to make themselves electable so some are jumping ship. Had Livni stayed on as leader things would have stayed the same as they have been for the past 3 years and she would have not joined the coalition and had very little to say unless it was cheap shots at Bibi and Kadima would have lost big time at the election. Right now rather than the slow death Livni would have led the party to its going to be a quick death. Whilst I was no fan of Kadima for the sake of democracy it would have been nice to have a third mainstream party. Now we are back to the stale politics where coalitions will nearly always consist of Likud, Labour and the single issue parties. Time to change the system to one where we have just 3 political parties, all MK's directly elected through districts and the party with the most seats runs the country alone for a fixed term. The current system does not work in any ways shape or form no matter who is running the show and just makes a mockery of democracy. We tried to adopt the European system and we did it very badly now we should try the British first past the post system at the very least it will bring stability and take power out the hands of single issue parties that exist for the sole purpose of joining coalitions.
