The author misrepresents the antagonism to Israel in the senior part of Clegg's party. Tonge wasn't just criticising Israel. She was for a long time Patron of the Palestine Post website which publishes not only ant-Israel propaganda but blood libels and links to anti-semitic websites. She was forced in two stages to abandon her "patronage", but Clegg never made the moral decision which would have been to remove the "party whip" from her for sponsoring the publication of blood libels. Then another senior LibDem looking after "foreign affairs", when challenged about this particular point by the Board Of Deputies, treated everyone like an idiot by trying to shift responsibility onto the Israeli government. Clegg's party has benefited from significant cash injection from an Iraqi millionaire who Clegg is close to, and his campaign benefited from vicious "anti-Zionist" support from the MPACUK website in several constituencies. Even his predecessors (Ashton and Steele) are known for their anti-Israel attitudes. Don't look to this guy or to his party for fairness in any form.

Why U.K's Labour Party won't confront Muslim anti-Semitism

Too many Labour politicians cravenly adopted the anti-Semitic tropes and anti-Israel demonization they think will get them British Muslim votes, rather than standing up to the prejudice that exists in the community.
