You seem to be laboring under the delusion that the dog is wagging the tail. At least as regards Israel and those it opposes in the ME, the tail wags the dog. Congress gets it's marching orders from AIPAC, who get their orders from Likud. However, the slam dunk that AIPAC used to enjoy is now more of a rim shot nowadays. I would certainly rather the Syrians to be giving Hez RPG 27 or 29s, as these are purely anti military weapons, as opposed to Scuds, which are indiscriminate killers with collatoral and civillian damage on the order of Israel's doctrine of carpet bombing, so as to protect it's soldiers from actually havvng to engage an enemy on the ground and suffer losses. This concept appears to be gaining traction with Hamas as well, as evidenced by their attempts to eleminate cross border rocketing, yet strike the IDF when it invades Gaza to preserve a buffer on the Gaza side up to the fence. This cost the IDF 2 kia recently. This is the way to win the PR war. Kill soldiers, not civillians(although by and large, the rockets are more of a nussance than a genuine killer).
