A POW has rights - the right to send and receive letters, the right to visitation by the Red Cross, the right to fair treatment within the confines of the various internationally agreed conventions. The state holding him has responsibilities - to fulfill the above, to feed and clothe the prisoner, to keep him warm, healthy etc., to report on his physical state and well-being to his state of origin. An abductee is taken to a place no one knows of and is not heard of or from during his imprisonment. A kidnapper has no resposibilities, no rights, no legal status and is not a legitimate state sponsored organisation, just a criminal. Is this now clear to you?
