I emphatically disagree with Hamas tactics. The suicide bombing is a diabolical sin to mankind. But they will be a political entity and I believe they will change. Not all of them. Remember Israel have the status quo and your words of: 'Yes, there are some people in Israel that deny palestinians their right to statehood, and so on and so forth...' Doesnt do the trick because they will stop you right there and say 'That is WHY there is suicide bombers' So until the reasonable need is recognized and negotiated (obviously at this point,AGAIN) we are just looking at more problems. The 'so on and so forth....' is at the heart of the matter.Nobody will give the palestinians anything without the leverage of bombs. Again I dont condone them, and I know that the bombs dont ONLY come from this thinking. There is a portion of these people that want a pan muslim middle east and they think Israel is on their turf. But I dont think this is anywhere near the majority. On the Israeli side, the fundamentalists dont throw bombs because they HAVE the status quo. I mean if I were a believer that G-d absolutely gave us the land then maybe I would throw bombs too if I didnt have the status quo.But the status quo gives us the space for political manouvering and although the Israeli extreme doesnt throw bombs they play this game as well as anyone. I believe half of Likud falls into the position of not giving any land at all. What percentage of THIS group is fundamentalist and what percentage simply doesnt trust the Palestiniains is murky. The Kahane group was a fringe group, right? WRONG! They were backed by the mainstream to enforce mainstream Jewish religious values. Ive heard the whispers in the hallways myself. But all the shifting and sliding doesnt really do much when there are pieces of Jewish babies stuck high up on pizza parlour halls.
