Nobody is saying that as a nation Turks are perfect. The complaint of the Turks is that even when other nations also do equally terrible things, only the Muslim Turkey is being singled out. If you want to talk about the deportation of innocent minorities in Turkey during WW I, how about the French and Italian selling of their own Jewish citizens to Nazis during WW II, which was much more recent than WW I, but France did NOT receive any punishment for this terrible crime? For the record, even during WW II, some antisemitic opportunists who were in the the government of Turkey did take some discriminatory measures against Jews and other minorities, confiscating their property, and even arresting many, but still, the Jews in Turkey know that overall the Turkish people were much nicer to them than the Europeans. The modern Turkey is a dramatic improvement to the previous era, and everything must be seen in context. How about the French massacre of Arabs during the Algerian rebellion war?
